The Grand Concert

The 2006 Sangerfest Grand Concert will begin at 7:00 pm, Saturday, July 1 st in the Center for Faith and Life, (CFL) at Luther College. Dr. David Judisch, NSAA Director-in-Chief, will direct the concert. He has also made all of the necessary arrangements for the guest participants for our concert.

This years Grand Concert will include guest performers from Norway. The featured soloist will be Elisabeth Tandberg from Oslo. Trained as an opera singer in Rome, her illustrious singing career has taken her to Italy, Hong Kong, Australia, United States and China. She has been engaged by the prestigious Bergan International Festival, Rikskonsertene, and the Olso Philharmonic Orchestra. An often recorded performer on CD, she is a resident voice teacher at both the State Academy of Music and the National Opera Academy in Oslo.

The Sangerfest piano accompanist also comes from Olso. Her name is Jorunn Marie Bratlie. She has had the honor of being the pianist chosen to accompany the King and Queen of Norway on their State visits to continental Europe, and she has performed in Norway, Romania, the Faroes, and elsewhere as a concert pianist. She was the youngest pianist ever to play Grieg’s A Minor Piano Concerto at the International Festival at Bergen. She also has several CD recordings to her credit.

Den Norske Mannsoktett from Lillehammer will demonstrate their musical prowess for everyone at the Grand Concert as well. This octet is a nine-member vocal ensemble that performs music from a wide range of styles and historical periods.

The Sangerfest 2006 orchestra is an excellent group of musicians including many members of Luther College’s chamber orchestra student ensemble with additional Luther faculty and Decorah community players.

Note: There are two important items for all NSAA choir members: (1) wear white coats, black bow tie, black slacks and black shoes. (2) Please be in your assigned seating places in the CFL before 6:35 pm. The photographer is scheduled to take our massed choir picture twenty minutes before the concert begins. Award recipients will also have photos taken prior to the Grand Concert. Check the schedule for the assigned times.
